That’s why we were honored when The Oxford Eagle recently featured our journey from a small family effort during the COVID-19 pandemic to a full-scale moving company helping students and families in college towns. A Business Born from Unexpected Circumstances
When campuses abruptly shut down in the spring of 2020, thousands of college students were forced to leave their belongings behind. Our CEO, Brooks Fuller, who was an Auburn University baseball player at the time, along with his brother and mom, stepped in to help. What began as a no-cost effort to retrieve students’ belongings from the abandoned campus and ship them home quickly turned into something much bigger.
The summer after COVID, I kept getting calls from parents asking if we could move their students’ belongings again,” said Brooks Fuller, CEO of Room2Room Movers. “That’s when I really sat down to see if we could turn this into something sustainable.
With growing demand and a clear need for reliable moving and storage services in college towns, Room2Room Movers officially launched in June 2021.
After our first official summer, we really got to see the different needs students had, and that shaped the services we offer today,” Fuller explained. “Parents kept asking if we could store their students’ belongings while they were between leases because storage units in Auburn sell out months in advance. Some families were paying for storage for six months when they only needed it for the summer, and we knew we could offer a better solution.
This realization led to the expansion of Room2Room Movers' services, ensuring that students had flexible, affordable, and stress-free moving and storage solutions tailored to their unique needs.
Growing to Meet the Needs of College Students
From our roots in Auburn, we have expanded to Oxford, MS, bringing our unique, student-focused moving services to the Ole Miss community. Whether students need temporary summer storage while they are between leases, handyman services to help them get set up in their new space, or full-service moving assistance, Room2Room Movers has become the go-to name in college moving.
